Julia Alexander is a multi-disciplinary artist working in sculpture, painting, puppets and more. Her work merges her childhood fascination with paleontology, body horror, and science fiction, creating a unique blend of imaginative storytelling grounded in scientific curiosity. Drawing inspiration from her lifelong interest in dinosaurs and geological history, Julia’s art explores the intersections of these worlds, blending the fantastical with the scientific. Julia’s artistic journey began early, recognized for her advanced skills in middle school and encouraged by her art teacher to pursue both art and science. Despite the option to follow a forensics science path at the University of Toronto, Julia chose to follow her artistic passion and was accepted into Sheridan College to study art. Throughout her education, Julia also pursued independent studies in paleontology through online courses, deepening her knowledge of the natural world. Her work is influenced by her admiration for practical effects and animatronics, particularly the work of Stan Winston Studios on Jurassic Park.
